I had the unique opportunity to partner with the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota at the same time they were building their permanent home in Mankato. I worked on the all aspects of the visual look for the museum over a year period helping with their logo, environmental signage, murals, and way-finding. This unique children's museum wanted a look that was child friendly but did not pander.

This giant mural was designed for the Coughlan Quarry exhibit within the museum. From the museum website, "At the quarry, it’s all about working together to get the job done. A big sand pit, moveable crane, and a big conveyor system for transporting blocks from one side of the quarry to the other provide real-life action to the Museum’s visitors. Vertical sand play enhances problem-solving skills. Real Kasota stone walls surround this gallery of endless fun."

The museum has a two level maker/engineering space, "Cecil’s Imagineering Loft provides a variety of tools and materials for hands-on play and learning: it is the gateway into the exciting world of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, just right for adolescents and grown-ups." This space was sponsored by the family of Cecil Jones a local inventor. I combined original graphics, photos of Cecil Jones, and sketches from his notebooks to create this large mural to welcome guests into the space.

Because signage in the maker space has to be flexible and changeable we created a clipboard wall so information can be switched out quickly.

To help distinguish each exhibit area within the museum I created a series of icons and a color pairing to be used within each space.
